London 2010 Festival Stamps Personalised Stamp Sheet
Royal Mail issued a personalised stamp sheet incorporating 16 x 1st, 2 x
E20g, 2 x WW20g on the occasion of the London 2010 Festival Stamps held at
the British Design Centre, Islington, London. Printed on self adhesive
paper by Cartor in litho, the sheet celebrated the 10th Anniversary of
Smilers sheets with the strap line Keep Smiling. This sheet was the the
first source of the Robin in the Letterbox stamp with elliptical security
perforations, one per side and the only source of the Thanks stamp in this
configuration..
The first label bore an image of the show logo whilst the
remaining 19 labels featured a personal image taken at the photo booths at
the show, although some sheets are known to have personal images of pets
and other customer images. Two printers were in use at the show. The first
printer (Type 1 Xerox Phaser 8560N PS - the photo image appeared shiny and
waxy when viewed at oblique lighting) caused problems with the sheet feed
mechanism causing this to crease sheets in the top right hand corner. It
was replaced mid-week (Wednesday) with a more conventional colour laser
jet printer (Type 2 - HP Colour LaserJet CP3505 PCL 6 - the photo image
appeared matt (flat) when viewed at oblique lighting).
