Salisbury Stamp Show 2013

Available only from the Royal Mail Instant Smilers Booth at the Salisbury Stamp Show event. 

The stamps were  only available in half sheets if 10 either a left hand pane or right hand pane originally from a sheet of 20 stamps/labels.  The software used in the post and go machines to purchase these show Smilers can only cope with half sheet (no option exists to purchase a full sheet of 20). Buying two half sheets results in 2 x 10 stamp/label half sheets not a full sheet.

Battle of the Atlantic.... 

DS "Union Flag" 

....by Steve Williams commemorates the 70th anniversary of the role Bletchley Park played in winning the Battle of the Atlantic in 1943. The image depicts the capture of a U Boat and its code books. This enabled the Bletchley Park code breakers to provide the Royal Navy with U Boat positions. This was a turning point of WW2 enabling convoys to get through and make the 1944 D-Day landings possible. The issue coincides with a day of talks at Bletchley Park on the Battle of the Atlantic.

StampEssex - Spring 2013

DS "Union Flag" 

Basildon Philatelic Society is forty-five years old this year and is celebrating its success as holders of the President's Trophy for the best overall society in the AEPS county philatelic competitions for 2012. The society's challenge to retain the trophy begins in the extensive display of stamps and postal history at the Essex Stamp Day exhibition and fair. "Spring StampEssex 2013" is hosted by the society and will take place on 27 April 2013 at James Hornsby School, Laindon from 10am to 4pm.  The occasion will be marked by an issue of special Smilers stamps showing the event emblem, designed by Charlie Mead, the society Chairman.
