Although stated to be from a print run of 10,000 sheets Royal Mail have
verbally confirmed to me that they have not printed 10,000 sheets and this
represents an upper limit for the issue. In practice a smaller number will
have been printed initially - estimated at c. 1000 - 2000 sheets.
This is the third in a series of three Commemorative Smilers sheets
featuring Olympic and Paralympic events and sports.
On the same date (27 Jul 2011), Royal Mail released a composite sheet
featuring all thirty Olympic and Paralympic stamps in an A4 format which
at first glance may be thought to be a Smilers "family" stamp
sheet. It is not. We will not be listing this sheet as it more closely
represents a large mini sheet and would effectively increase the
scope of this listing.
